On restarting.

Next week is Thanksgiving. I’m 2.5 months into my new life in Miami. On most nights, right before surrendering to sleep, I think about my life Boston.

You know what they say, “hindsight is 20/20.”

And looking back, I had a great life in my rat-hole, little apartment in Brighton. I miss being able to walk down the street and being entertained by all that was going on.

The hipsters on the first floor of my building, sitting on their patios, swinging back PBR pounders like it’s their job. On the opposing sidewalk, the jogger running by, listening to their iPod. Even the corner store, Chansky’s, full of funny characters was always a pleasant visit.

Boston has a small town feel, despite its size.

I miss walking along the Charles River. I miss the Boston Common and plopping down with a good book to enjoy the sun before winter’s imminent arrival.

But, I’m happy now in Miami. I’ve got the comfort of my family a short drive away and no winter in sight.

I’m one of the luckiest people in the world because, for a short while I got to live in two very different worlds.

I’m looking forward to what’s next.
